In February 2026 we were issued with a new NGO licence. This followed a visit by Malawi’s NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA) to the Chimwabwi Model Childcare Centre in Rural Blantyre. NGORA is a statutory body based in the Malawi capital Lilongwe mandated to oversee the operations of each licensed NGO operating in Malawi, ensuring transparency and accountability in Malawi’s NGO Sector.
The visit was led by Patrick Alizio, the Regional Officer, together with his team (see photos below), and took place at the new Chimwabvi Pre-School Centre built by boNGO in 2025. The purpose of the visit was to gain an understanding of our programmes and how they are managed and to carry out diligence specifically on governance, financial records, and program impact.
It is known that some NGOs are not entirely honest in what they do and these visits provide NGORA an opportunity to assess an NGO’s operations in greater detail than would be achieved through a desktop study. The feedback was that they were very
impressed with our programs, operations and governance, and pleased to report a new licence was issued.
