Bongo Worldwide Receives CONGOMA Certificate of Membership

Bongo Worldwide is pleased to announce that it has been officially granted a Certificate of Membership by the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations in Malawi (CONGOMA), the legally designated coordinating body for NGOs operating in Malawi.

CONGOMA membership is granted only after a review process designed to confirm an organisation’s legal standing and legitimacy. As part of our application, Bongo Worldwide was required to submit, among other documents, a letter of approval from the Government of Malawi authorising us to operate as an NGO, our Certificate of Incorporation, and our organisational constitution. These were reviewed and approved by CONGOMA’s Governing Council before membership was confirmed.

This certificate is distinct from our NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA) licence, announced earlier this year. The NGORA licence is the formal government authorisation confirming that Bongo Worldwide has complied with the requirements of the Non-Governmental Organisations Act of 2001 and is licensed to operate as an NGO in Malawi in 2026. CONGOMA membership, on the other hand, reflects our recognition and standing within Malawi’s broader NGO coordination network.

Together, these two credentials affirm Bongo Worldwide’s commitment to full legal compliance and active, recognised participation in Malawi’s NGO sector. We will continue our work with the support of both CONGOMA and NGORA as we serve communities across Malawi.
